christmas 2015

sharing belated memories of our christmas time together, the lead up and the couple of days of celebration was so fun with a three year old who understood all about father christmas and presents!

it was a memorable christmas celebration with time at the hubbards and a gathering of my family at our abode on boxing day.

the cousins together, isaiah calling jed ‘eddy’ and my sister friend melissa visiting from korea were a few great things thrown into the mix!

we loved hosting and sharing our favourite spot, enjoying our bbq on the grass (which will soon be an extended deck area) and enjoying the breeze under our big tree.

lots of fun memories to hold of our first christmas celebrations in kerikeri.

holiday highlights

someone made the comment that this year we had a three day celebration for christmas – which was totally true!

with all the family we have around us, a {jesus’ birthday weekend} event was celebrated and was way better than any {queen’s birthday weekend}! as we have always been flying in and out pretty quickly over the christmas period for the last four years it was a stretched out occasion and one not to forget.

it was a great time and i wanted to share some snapshots here with you all.

christmas eve at the hubbard household

there is always a bit of fun to be had together and this year was no exception, except for the fact isaiah was not sure about the wigs and hats – or even the present unwrapping process – but he got there in the end and it was a fun day altogether {nearly! just the melbourne hubbard contingent were not here this year as a new babe arrives in late january!}

christmas day at home and then on to the stanbridge/cogle family gathering in whangarei

have the little ones join in now is so fun, having fun running around the lawn and blowing bubbles. we missed nate, who is in aussie, this year so hopefully it will be a full house for 2015. the food was amazing and lasted all day!

and lastly we had a boxing day bbq at ours to finish off the festivities

isaiah got to try out his christmas pressie from us, a paddling pool with slide and was finally coaxed in by his daddy. i also tried something too, my very first pavalova and got the approval from my mum and gran who are clever in the kitchen.

it was a fun few days!

i hope your christmas celebrations were everything you hoped they would be.

christmas wishes 2014

i love christmas!

i love how we can take time to celebrate with family, give to others {in presents, time and blessings} but most of all we celebrate the greatest gift ever received…

a baby that was born in a stinky little barn for animals. this baby would change the world at the time and forever afterwards, bringing hope and breaking apart the prisons we can create for ourselves so that we can know a Father’s heart towards each one of us.

i am forever grateful.

wishing you and your family a time of joy and hope this christmas and new year.
merry christmas!

preparing for the season

connecting

did you know that kimberley from creative chaos has organised a {send us christmas} swap this year? i have never been involved with one of these since it was kind of tricky when living in south east asia, but this year i jumped straight in. in the past my work place has done a week-long secret santa swap to get everyone geared up for christmas so i didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity! entries close on november 10 so it’s not too late to join!

check out the rules here

preparing
being back in nz for the wind down up to christmas is something we haven’t experienced for so long

, we’re excited to have my family at our place for christmas dinner and i thought to share some ideas/preparations on here as the time comes along.

creating
i want to start an advent tradition with our little one, and so i am on the hunt for an idea i can create at home. the focus is going to be on sharing the reason for the season and exploring this together as a family. i really like this peg idea.
searching
as a family unit, we want to create customs and traditions around this holiday so i have been doing some searches and finding inspiration in the following places.

are you ready for the {silly season}? is this post too early for your liking? share some family traditions you have at home, i would love to hear them!

Christmas / 2014 New Year holiday

Looking back on our three week Christmas vacation

I was so excited leading up to Christmas with family in New Zealand, especially because Isaiah was of an age where he could interact and enjoy the traditions we hold as a family.

  • Birthday celebrations
  • Friends visiting from South Korea (our friends are American)
  • Celebrating 5 years of marriage!
  • Sun, warmth, fresh air
  • Views of Bream Bay
  • Road trips
  • Swimming in the ocean
  • Eating bakery treats
  • Camping in the Far North
  • Icecreams
  • Sunsets
  • Adventures
  • Lots of time with the grandparents

Loved our time in New Zealand!
